SACofC Members Meeting Notes - July 30,2009

Location: Village Pizza - hosted by Reis Group

Kevin Brady opened the meeting at 6:45PM.
 
First on the agenda was the round-the-room introduction of attending members and friends.
 
Bob Cranston,Treasurer of the SACofC, gave an update on the finances of the organization.
 
The Reis Group was introduced and gave a short talk on the importance of insurance for small businesses.  They had a hand out which was available to members.  They also offered a free non-obligatory consultation to any members who were interested.
 
Hors'n Around update - Beth Murphy announced that most of the horses in the Village were being moved into shop windows because of ongoing vandalism.  Beth & Mark Smith announced that there are still volunteers needed fpr the Merry-Go-Round Gala to take place at HITS on Sept 12.  A sign-up sheet was passed around the room asking for for volunteers.
 
Mike Campbell will send out an email to members as a follow up this week. 
 
Loop Bus Service for Saugerties - Mike Campbell presented the idea of having a loop bus route through Saugerties as proposed by the League of Women Voters.  The concept is in the preliminary planning stage and members will be updated as the program moves along.
 
Mike Campbell also mentioned the availability of the "Planning your Future' brochure produced by the Small Business Administration.  The brochure describes the many services the organization offers small businesses in Ulster County.
 
Saugerties Artists Tour - Barbara Bravo reminded members that the annual Saugerties Artists Studio tour will take place the weekend of Aug 8-9.
 
Beth Murphy told of a postcard that Jerry Schackne, also a member of the EDC, had produced to take a survey of shopping in the Village.  The postcard also has a questionnaire to have people vote on their favoite horse.
 
Saugerties Visitors Guide - Kevin Brady spoke of the tremendous success of this years Guide and how we have been getting many requests for additional copies.
 
At this point the meeting was open to for discussion to members.
 
Barbara Bravo introduced the idea of having a 'Mystery Weekend' . . . which will be investigated further for interest and next steps.
 
Kevin Brady closed the meeting at 7:30 p.m. after thanking Reis Group for hosting.
