July 24,2008 SACofC Board meeting Notes

Start time: 6:45PM at Precision Flow conference room

• Reviewed Saugerties Area Council of Churches request to have the SACofC buy an ad in the 50th Anniversary celebration program-approved by Board
• Proposal to have the SACofC participate in the Ulster County Chamber of Commerce 2009 High Tech Community map-approved.
• A request was reviewed to have the SACofC run an ad in the Saugerties Garlic Featival guide-not approved since many Saugerties businesses will run individual ads in the guide and people visiting the Festival already know about Saugerties.
• Topic of the SACofC having an insurance policy to cover meeting and events held by the Chamber.  The policy presented by Naccarato Insurance was well recieved-Bob Cranston will purchase policy-cost will be $496 a year which will cover all monthly meetings as well as 7 special events.
• SACofC brochures-Barbara Budik has 2500 copies to be used at the Garlic Festival as well as other needs.
• Saugerties Car Show-was discussed and several board members said how successfulit was.  For next year we want to identify a space in town where motorcyles can be shown.
• Barbara Budik brought up the Quadricentenial celebration and that a $1000. grant was applied for to produce a banner promoting the event.
• Saugerties Flea Market was discussed-Mark And Mike updated the Board on the event.  For 2008 it was decided by the Flea Market committee not to have the individual yard sales or the raffle. These will be developed for 2009. Things are moving ahead to hold the event in the Grand Union parking lot.
• The Chamber will get a copy of the insurance policy that Bob is purchasing to give to the propery owner of the Grand Union property.
• Discussed the remaining SACofC members meetings for 2008 which are on July 30,Aug 27,Sept 30,Oct 29 and Nov 22 or 23.
• Mike brought up the desire to restore the old billboard paintings in the Village-to be addressed at the members meeting to get a vote for or against it and where the funding would come from if it was approved.
• Some board members brought up the feeling from Village businesses that business was not good in the Village and how the Chamber could help with this problem.  It was suggested that we put this subject on the Members meeting agenda for discussion at the end of the meeting.
• Oil Plans-Bob will ask Josepha if she is ready and willing to present this to the Members at the meeting on July30.  If she is it will be on the email announcement for the meeting.
• Saugerties Sunset Concerts was discussed and how well attended the July 4 concert was.  Next concert is at Glasco Mini Park on Aug 1.
• Saugerties Farmers Market at it’s new location near Kiersted House was discussed and how well it's doing.
• Barbara Budik’s leaving Board on Aug 16 was discussed and who would be appointed by the Board to finish her term as Board Member. Should be resolved by Next meeting.

Board meeting was adjouned at 8:30 PM.
