The horses have arrived in the streets of Saugerties! (Well, actually the sidewalks.)
You've got to come and experience these beautiful works of art first-hand. Located mostly on Partition, Main and Market Streets* in the cool, historic and friendly Village of Saugerties, the horses will be on display between now and the September 11th "Unbridled Fun Gala and Auction", which will take place under tents behind Stella's Station on Partition Street.
Below, you can take a "virtual tour" of the public art display, in advance of your visit. If you hover your mouse pointer over a number in the map below, you'll see information such as the horse's name and the name of its artist(s) and sponsor(s) pop up. And if you click on the number, a photo of the horse should appear.
Pick out your favorite and come bid on it on Sept.11th and that horse can be yours! There are 2 horses that are solar powered . . . and another with a dripping ice cream cone in it's mouth, and one (on Partition Street) that is designed to provide you with some cool patterns as you walk (or drive) by it. (Careful observing while driving in a car, please!)
The virtual tour is fun, but there's nothing like coming and seeing these beauties in person.
Note too that one of the horses (marked with an * below) will be raffled, and that we're going to offer the opportunity for online bidding prior to the Gala and Auction. More on that in a few weeks. For now, enjoy your virtual tour! (Note that you can print your own maps with horse name, artist name and sponsor name info included, by downloading a PDF HERE.) If you want additional information about Hors'n Around Saugerties, please click HERE. Printed maps are available at Town Hall (4 High Street) and at Village Hall (43 Partition Street). They are also available at Smith Hardware, Town and Country Liquors and other fine Saugerties shops.
